Welcome to the first Wikipatterns Newsletter!

This first issue is being sent to all registered users of Wikipatterns.com (http://www.wikipatterns.com), but to receive future issues by email, you'll need to subscribe here.

Of course, if you subscribe now you can always unsubscribe later on, whenever you choose. If you'd prefer not to receive it via email, you will be able to browse through the contents of each issue directly on Wikipatterns.com, too.

Wikipatterns has a new look!

We recently launched a new design for Wikipatterns with an organic theme that emphasizes growing your wiki. With the addition of the theme, the site is much less technical looking, and I'm hoping this makes it more inviting for non-technical users.

Speaking of users and site activity

There are now 394 contributors to Wikipatterns, 60 patterns (the site started with 29), and the site has been bookmarked 1,070 times on del.icio.us, a popular social bookmarking site. Many pages have ongoing conversations in the comments, and I'm stewarding the conversations, encouraging people to contribute, and turn their suggestions for new patterns into pages they create and initially seed with content.

Personal profile

When you sign up for a Wikipatterns account, besides creating and editing patterns you can also create a profile for yourself. It's a great way to get involved with Wikipatterns.com, and if you're new to wiki, it's a good way to try your hand at editing. To learn how to create your profile, visit How to use this wiki.

Get your Wikipatterns button!

Now you can stylishly tell everyone about your favorite wiki resource – add a Wikipatterns button to your blog, website, or wiki! Buttons come in three
sizes – Large: 120×80 pixels, Standard: 88×31 pixels, and Chicklet: 80×15 pixels.

Displaying a button is a great way to let others know about Wikipatterns, and help them find strategies for growing wiki collaboration and share their ideas with the community.

How do you like Wikipatterns?

Your feedback on the new design and patterns is welcome! You can send me feedback directly: stewart[at]atlassian.com. And of course you should feel free to make some edits to the site that describe patterns of adoption that worked in your organization, add some additional resources, or whatever information will help the greater wiki community.

Cheers,
Stewart
