Automatic Index

What is it?

Since a wiki thrives on activity, it's important to make sure the front page shows that and doesn't look stale. Some wiki software has the ability to display a list of recently updated pages, or maintain a dynamically updated list of pages labeled with a common tag.

Usage

Use an automatic index to keep your wiki homepage constantly and automatically updated as people edit existing pages and add new ones.

Example

The Wikipatterns homepage has link to [Adipex Consumer Drug Resources] which shows automatically updated lists of the most recent edits and people who have contributed.

Where's the title of the page? Otherwise I like the new design

Hi Charlie,
The title appears now - I'm tweaking the pages right now so the title appear. Glad you like the new design! It's meant to make the site feel a lot less technical and show how a wiki can look just like a regular web site but have all the editing benefits of a wiki.

Making a site less technical and more webby is crucial in bringing in the floating voters. I think we underestimate how starved of time people feel even on slack days and any barrier visually is enough to overcome their faint inclination to get involved. If I could get my hands on a corporate wiki software like this, I would have a chance. Mediawiki is to techie for my world.
