The language of "patterns" is a possilby an [AntiPattern] - Patterns are seen by sociologists as ridgid, even though computer scientists think of them as flexible. [WikiPractices] is what came out of WikiSym 2006 as a shared language across the disciplines of sociology and computer science.

h1 Questions

  • What is the "\" markup? I don't see it on the right side? Can anyone answer me on this one?
  • can I make Wiki Markup the default window to come to? Thank you!!
  • how can I easily see what diff a person has made? hmmmm...
  • how can I easily see what a page's version history is? hmmm.....

It seems that this wiki is missing some fundamental community building tools, no recent changes, no diff, no version history... help!

learing YAW (yet another wiki) -

Hi Mark,   I hear what you say about patterns and particularly anti-patterns being rigid. They seem to attempt to lay down the law from the perspective of one particular value judgment, which may not be right in all circumstances. But it is stated to be a toolbox not a recipe. My suggestion is to identify the patterns and then just list the contexts and arguments for and against. ( see  [Using CamelCase] ) I think I might even  propose doing away with the word anti-pattern since it is misleading and badly named.  The implication is that patterns are best practices, but best according to who?  ~Andy
